Prep time: 10mins
Cooking time: 45mins
Ingredients
- 15 chicken wings
- 1/2 cup soya sauce
- 1 heaped tablespoon garlic (fresh or jar)
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce
- brown sugar
- place chicken wings in a seal tight container
- in a jug or small bowl combine sweet chilli, honey, soya and garlic and whisk well ensuring all the honey is mixed in (it can stick the the bottom so be sure to get all the sweet goodness mixed in).
- All these ingredients can be bought from Aldi which makes it an even cheaper meal than you think!
- once mixed, pour ingredients over chicken and seal the container
- Shake Shake Shake!!! This will ensure all wings are covered evenly with the marinade
- place container in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours. It is best to do this in the morning and let the wings absorb all the ingredients throughout the day
- Shake every half an hour or hour if you have it in the fridge for the day

Once the wings have soaked up that delicious goodness
- preheat oven to 180 degrees for a fan forced oven
- line a flat baking tray with two layers of alfoil, this is to be sure the stickiness isn't on your tray because it is hard to clean and it makes your job even easier, just take up the alfoil and bin it!
- pour the chicken wings and all the marinade into the baking tray and spread the wings around the tray
- sprinkle each individual wing with 1/2 teaspoon (a pinch) of brown sugar (this is the showstopper, it makes the skin so delicious and caramelised)
- place wings in the top half of the oven, I like to do this so the skin is crispy and the marinade goes extra sticky
- bake for 45 mins
- take out of the oven and allow to cool for 5 mins
- serve with brown or white rice and Asian greens (this is how we like it)
- Pour leftover marinade from the baking tray over your rice and greens...yummmm!
You can have it as a meal or serve it as an appetiser or entree before you have dinner or as finger food at a party. It's great because you can prepare it before and chuck it in the oven when you need it.
This recipe is so quick and easy and it's also good for the inexperienced, yes you Bumpkin!. You'll need to get the wings from the deli in Coles or Woolworths or your Butcher as Aldi do not sell wings. You can also do this with drumsticks which would need another 10mins in the oven or with chicken breast. You don't need to use your oven, the BBQ or frypan would be just as good. I find the meat goes very tender when it is done in the oven on the lower heat. Delish.
Best part about wings at home? You can make a mess on your face and hands when eating them and it doesn't matter!!! Hahaha!!!
I know I'm going to enjoy my sticky wings for dinner, can't wait!
You all must try it....
